The Penny Bank Book
Andy & Susan Moore
First published in 1984 and currently in its 4th printing. Over 1,600 banks are identified, It also includes copies of original catalog pages, patent images and an extensive appendix with addition information individual banks. Although some of the attributed manufacturer information may no longer be current, overall this book has aged well and remains “THE BEST” general reference on Still Banks.
The Safe Bank Book
Michael Holz
Published in 2017 and still in print this book is the most complete listing of iron safe banks known to date. It includes a broad range of additional information, taken directly from primary reference resources. There are nearly 500 unique casting variations identified with multiple colors and finishes represented. This catalog is augmented with chapters that include more than 20 company profiles, 175 pages reproduced from original manufacturer catalogs, over 60 ads from period mail order catalogs, and nearly 40 related US patents, as well as trade cards, postcards, calendars, posters, and other ephemera related to safe banks and the companies that made them.
Cast Iron Building Banks

Published in 2009, this book was developed with the support of the Still Bank Collectors Club of America (SBCCA). While not made publicly available, copies can occasionally be found on secondary markets such as eBay or Amazon. If you have an interest in Building Banks this is a MUST HAVE reference for your library.
Registering Banks
Robert L. McCumber
Privately published in 1990. This soft cover book includes 317 black-and-white photographs with captions that include name, description, maker, date, material, mechanism and more. Registering Banks examples include Recording Banks, Pocket Dime Register Banks, and Pocket Tube Banks. While no longer in print, copies can occasionally be found on secondary markets such as eBay or Amazon.
